Fees
From notarial fees to travel fees and even printing fees, learn all about the cost of mobile notary service and use the calculator to estimate your fees before requesting an appointment.
While there are many places to obtain free notary service in Virginia, most private and mobile notaries charge a fee for providing service to the public. The amount a notary may charge for performing a notarial act is determined by statute, however, the law also provides for notaries to be reimbursed for their actual and reasonable expenses. These additional fees are usually the form of travel fees and fees paid for other non-notarial services. Below is my current listing of fees as that you can use to estimate how much I will charge you for notary service.
* Monetary value of time is only for traveling. Notaries may not charge for their time performing their duties and such time is never factored into the travel fees. Whether an appointment takes me 5 minutes or 2 hours, the only money I can accept for performing my duty itself is the statutory maximum.
Prepayment & Travel-Fee Refund Policy
Effective July 4, 2024
For travel greater than 20 minutes one-way, travel fees must be prepaid and are non-refundable within 4 hours of the appointment time or unless the appointment is cancelled by me for personal or scheduling reasons.
Travel fees are never refundable when I terminate an appointment for cause (including, but not limited to: violating my conduct policy, not providing a safe environment for notarial service to be performed, or not satisfactorily proving your identity).
In the event that you cancel an appointment for which travel fees have been prepaid, your travel fees will be refunded provided the cancellation request is received and acknowledged more than 4 hours prior to the appointment time. In this event, a $5 administration fee will be deducted from the refund to help offset scheduling and processing expenses.
